What Philippine laws and policies recognize, protect, and fulfill women’s human rights, especially against Gender-Based Violence? This course provides a holistic approach to understanding the core mandates of the Philippine government to protect women’s human rights. At the end of this course, you should be able to:
- Discuss Philippine law and policies that create public mandates for GBV response, such as the Magna Carta of Women (MCW) and its salient provisions. RA 8353 (Anti-Rape law); RA 9208 (trafficking in persons); RA 9262 (Anti-VAWC); and RA 11313 (Safe Spaces Act);
- Explain the relevant provisions of the laws, the conditions under which these crimes are committed, and the corresponding punishment given to violators; and
- Understand the legal rationale for functional Barangay VAW Desks as an effective response to GBV.
