
DISASTER MANAGEMENT AND PLANNING
ORIENTATION SESSIONS
At the end of the training the participants will be able to:
● Define common international and local terminologies associated with disaster and climate risk management;
● Explain briefly how international frameworks like sustainable development goals and Sendai Framework are referenced in national policies such as the Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Act (RA 10121), Climate Change Act (RA 9729), and Children’s Emergency Relief and Protection Act (RA 10821);
● With the use of case studies, enumerate appropriate disaster risk management practices to the situations presented. This includes hazard mapping, exercise design, contingency planning, early warning systems, incident command system, SPHERE standards, public service continuity planning, rapid damage assessment and needs analysis (RDANA), post-disaster assessment and needs analysis (PDNA); and
● Prepare to learn action plans to identify the next steps.
